Hermosa Arts & History Association Memorial Garden
The Doug Hesnard Memorial Garden
Doug Hesnard, who grew up on a family ranch west of Hermosa, was one of the founding members of HAHA. After he passed away in 2012, HAHA members established the Doug Hesnard Memorial Garden in front of the museum, to honor Doug's lifelong career with and love of flowers and gardening.
Ever-Changing Beauty Each year the garden changes as the Garden Committee tends the existing garden and tries new plants. Scroll down to see photos of the Memorial Garden for the current year and past years.
The 2018 Garden
The HAHA Garden Committee established a budget and began garden plans in February. Because the exterior of the museum is still needing work, gardening is mainly being done in pots and the two large planters in front of the building. This year HAHA member Dan Martin will set up an irrigation system to water the planters, which will be a great help during the heat of summer. The Garden Committee has decided to use as many native plants as possible, to showcase our local flowers and grasses, to feed our native pollinators, and because native plants can cope with our temperature and moisture extremes better than imported species.
